Nova-Sofala

We are lucky to be able to have the opportunity to stand Nova-Sofala on our farm at peterborough. He is arguably one of the best bred danehill stallions around. With 2  Victorian breeding seasons  under his belt, and already acheiving a winner in "Sofala Bridge" we are very excited for the future. He will be standing his third season in Victoria.

Our Farm is situated on the Great Ocean Road in the small town of Peterbourough.

Our horses enjoy a very relaxing and comfortable environment.

Foundation Day first for Nova Sofala

Tuesday, 2 June 2015

Danehill added another name to the long list of his sire sons to be represented by a winner on Monday.

His penultimate-crop colt Nova Sofala sired Sofala Bridge to win the Boulder Parts & Towing Maiden (1400m) by two lengths at Leonora.  Part-owned and trained in Kalgoorlie by David Smith, he had been placed at his home track on Anzac Day before the breakthrough on Foundation Day.

Sofala Bridge (4g Nova Sofala – Poppy Bridge by Perugino) was bred by Sharna Keys-Fernihough and is related to Lindsay Park stakes winner Flanders Fields.

Danehill sired Nova Sofala from G1 VRC Emirates Stakes winner Bonanova (Star Way).  An $800,000 yearling buy for Sheikh Mohammed, he won at Goulburn before relocating to WA for further wins at Geraldton and Northam.

After covering a handful of mares in 2008, he transferred to Korilya Stud and then Waterford Stud before moving interstate in 2013.  He stands for a $3,000 service fee at Douglas Thoroughbreds in Peterborough on the west coast of Victoria.
